Honda Freed set to launch TODAY!

Honda Freed set to launch tomorrow – report soon!

Lightly covered Honda Freeds (likely for protection against stone chips and scratches more than anything else) have been spotted on trailers along the highways this whole week, leading up to the launch of the Freed tomorrow morning after of which we’ll be able to tell you all about the car including the finalized prices. The Freed is a B-segment MPV based on the City and Jazz platform and it even uses a similiar 1.5 liter SOHC i-VTEC engine, though power is down 2 PS compared to the City.

Don’t expect the Freed to be an affordable alternative to the Grand Livina though – the positioning is supposed to be ‘premium’ with its dual automatic sliding doors and whatnot. Pricing is expected to breach RM100k significantly for the sole 1.5 liter model while the most expensive 1.8L Grand Livina remains comfortably under it at its RM97,300 price point.

Honda to end production of Civic Type R sedan

Honda is ending the production cycle of its Civic Type R sedan, with the last vehicles rolling off the Suzuka plant at the end of Aug. With that, Honda Malaysia will also end sales of the car locally then - Malaysia is the only country outside of Japan to have the four-door Civic Type R.

Since its introduction, close to 12,000 units have been sold in both Japan and Malaysia, and to date, since its introduction here in Aug 2007, 234 units of the type have been sold locally.

At the moment, customers in Malaysia can still place orders for the Civic Type R, which is priced at RM199,800, at any authorised Honda dealer, so if you want one before it's gone, best be quick about it.

Honda City, Civic and Accord prices are up!

Prices for a few Honda Malaysia models (Peninsular Malaysia) have gone up as of today. The increase is RM500 for the City and RM1,000 for the Civic and Accord, except for the 3.5 V6 and the latest 2.0 VTi-L model which keeps its launch pricing. The Civic Hybrid also remains at its RM129,980 price. Here are the new prices for the affected models:

Honda Compact MPV: Freed debut soon

Freed will be landing our shore soon. So, it is the time to plan on your next mobility asset.

 Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd will be adding its premium compact multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), Freed, to its model line-up in the second quarter of this year.

Targeted at young urban families, the Freed is based on the Jazz platform and features automatic sliding doors with a walkthrough flat floor cabin, and seating for seven.

According to Honda, the Freed hit the top spot in minivan sales in Japan in its sixth month of sales since its launch in 2008.

With more than 130,000 units sold in Japan, the Freed bagged the Japan Car of the Year 2008/2009 - Best Value Award.

Honda Malaysia will import the Freed from Honda Prospect Motor of Indonesia.
